Parare Counseling & Consulting, PLC, is an educational and counseling resource to work with individuals and families in transitional stages of life, and to consult with schools (elementary through college), law enforcement agencies and other organizations on communicating effectively with individuals who have disabilities. Parare’s services focus on children, adolescents and adults with disabilities such as autism spectrum disorders (including Asperger’s syndrome), mental impairments, and learning and emotional disabilities.  Parare works with individuals and families, as well as conducting group discussions and presentations.

Parare, Latin for "to prepare," emphasizes practical training strategies for people moving to other stages in their lives, such as children, adolescents or young adults transitioning into middle or high school, vocational training or college.  Through productive learning activities and counseling, individuals will be better equipped to transition to other opportunities.  Parare also focuses on parents, siblings and other family members of the person with a disability, to help them learn practical strategies for enhancing family dynamics. The Parare Consulting approach can be described in three words: Growth, Strength and Independence.

Parare can also work with law enforcement agencies, employers, businesses offering public accommodations, and other organizations, advising them on how to communicate effectively with individuals who have autism spectrum disorders (including Asperger’s syndrome), mental impairments, and learning and emotional disabilities.  These services include staff training as well as advice on how to handle a particular situation or individual.

Parare’s services to schools may include consultation on providing appropriate services for special needs students within a school or system, or, when needed, identifying appropriate outside resources.
